The South Korean Samsung group unveiled on Wednesday in New York the flagship of its reconquest, its new smartphone Galaxy S8, equipped with a virtual assistant, water resistant and no button on the front.
The new model was highly anticipated after the fiasco of the Galaxy Note 7, whose production was stopped in October after several devices exploded or caught fire.
It will be available from April 21, announced Justin Denison, vice president of Samsung America, at the presentation.
This model incorporates the first virtual assistant from Samsung, which will compete with Apple's famous Siri. His name is Bixby.
It allows the smartphone to "anticipate your needs", explained Sriram Thodla, senior director at Samsung America, at the presentation of the Galaxy S8.
Bixby uses all the smartphone data, including geolocation, which allows him, for example, to provide information to the user when he leaves his home.
Besides the virtual assistant, one of the main novelties is the absence of a button on the front, unlike previous models of the Galaxy or the iPhone.
Like the Pixel, the smartphone launched by Google, the front panel is now fully smooth and the screen larger in proportion to the device itself than before.
