China successfully launched a satellite communications technology test late Thursday night.
The official Chinese news agency "Xinhua" said on Friday that the satellite was launched from the Xichang Launch Center in Sichuan Province.
"The satellite was launched at 23:18 by a Long March-3B carrier rocket," said the same source.
The Chinese Society of Aerospace Science and Technology [government] had previously claimed that Beijing aims to break a new record, launching 30 space shuttles in 2017.
