Mexico forest devastated by the "green fever" of counsel

Liliana Carmona regrets his childhood pine forest: in this corner of Mexico today seized by the "green fever", the trees are replaced with avocado to meet international demand increasing steadily.

Pollution and disease

This 36-year-old mother lives near Uruapan, considered the capital of the lawyer. The surrounding mountains are overgrown with plants, that streak the landscape.

The mountains overgrown with avocado plantations in the Mexican state of Michoacan (west), October 18, 2016

Deforestation has led to an increase in temperature, but what concerns her most, she says, are the possible consequences of agrochemicals on health.

"When they sulfatent, we continue to sneeze" laments Ms. Carmona.

The picture is alarming. About 137,000 hectares of the State of Michoacan (west) are devoted to the lawyer, according to official figures. Half of avocado trees were planted in the forest, through legal artifices to redeem the land, says Jaime Navia, head of Gira environmental NGO.

The financial windfall generated by the lawyer draws up the cartels drug . According to a source of local authorities contacted by AFP, members of the cartels are among those farmers who are invading and deforesting the land for growing "green gold" .

The culture of the lawyer had his first "boom" in the 1970s, but the development of culture in wild forests dates back to the 2000s, notes Jaime Navia.

According to figures from the Ministry of Economy, since 2003 demand has been growing in the United States and the rest of the world.

The amount of exports of this "green gold" , full of vitamins, proteins and fatty acids, which is trading between 1.8 and 2.6 dollars per kilogram, was multiplied by thirty during this period, from $ 58 million in 2003 to 1.5 billion last year.

For only Japan , where the lawyer is a classic ingredient of sushi, exports rose from 40 million to 106 million within this range.

Different kinds of avocado tree native to central Mexico , is the Hass, a species created by an American farmer in the 1920s, which is now most common in Michoacan.

In primary school located in a square in Jujucato, where you can see the mountains covered with avocado, Salvador Sales teacher explains that the uncontrolled expansion of this culture was accompanied for 15 years a increased respiratory and digestive diseases of students.

"We think it's because of the products (agrochemicals) that they use" , he said, also fearing water pollution.

Avocado plantations spread up to 2,600 meters. Yet as high, "they are not as productive" , says Jaime Navia, who lives in the community of Tzararacua, where locals also grow avocado, but more responsibly. One hectare avocado reported 5.377 dollars per year.

Author of an investigative book on pollution linked to the culture of the lawyer in the region, Alberto Gomez Tagle also suggests a link between agricultural chemicals and diseases.

"We suspect not only of groundwater pollution but also rivers and streams from this cultivated mountain area" , he says.

A village near a lake called on researchers when many of its inhabitants began to suffer "liver problems, kidney (...) when the orchards have begun to spread and all kinds of pesticides were used, " says Gomez.

Villagers and small farmers have organized to limit the invasion of this culture in forests and recover the invaded areas.

The authorities are also fighting against the phenomenon and deforestation which is 2.5% per year, according to Gira environmental NGO.

Since this summer, the security forces carried out several operations to recover a hundred hectares of illegally annexed to avocado crops, and proceedings were initiated against the farmers, told AFP the responsible for environment of the State of Michoacan, Ricardo Luna.

A label was also created to identify crops environmentally friendly.

Living in a small apartment or a flat has its own unique advantages and the disadvantages make no exception too. One of the greatest of them is the little space for storing and hoarding objects, and in most cases, there is no such place at all. You have to improvise some storage corners or racks, or to keep hoarding useless objects on visible places. None of these is optional when you seek for the flawless cleanliness and freshness of your flat. That's why you need to do some home clearance once in a while or after the big maintenance of the house that should take place every year. If keeping old and useless objects like newspapers, broken or malfunctioning objects for just in case, then definitely the small apartment will become even smaller. Not to mention all the other common mistakes and issues that you can come across, such as keep storing objects on inappropriate places. The direct sunlight, the high humidity, the stuffiness due to the lack of fresh air - they all can cause molds and other issues with the objects you are hoarding. Not to mention that a wide array of insects and pests get attracted by the stagnant objects or by the places that you don't clean regularly.

Yet when it comes to a small apartment, flat or another small place - the sorting, the clearance and all other activities are much easier, than the disposal of waste after clearance of a giant two-storey house with a giant backyard. You may need just a couple of days in the weekend and a good organization to do it properly. The easy way is to call a professional clearance company. Their team can deal with all the waste removal, as well as could offer you a number of other complimentary services, such as recycling, donation or even they can buy the junk objects in a good condition for a reasonable price. Most of all, the flat clearance will last not that longer than when you do everything by yourself.

If you decide to do everything by yourself, then check out some tips and advices too:

- Reorganizing the entire flat is the best way to see what you should handle with. Spend a good long afternoon to check every corner and object in the flat. Put off aside the useless objects as a disposal of waste.

- Get yourself heavy-duty bags or maybe a box that you can use several times.

- Donation is one of the main ways to get rid of the old objects and yet in good condition, such as old clothes, shoes, TVs, etc. Donate to charity or give some objects to your friends.

- Selling in second hand-stores or antique shops is another great opt, especially if you prefer spending more time and yet get some benefit, than just throwing away the useless objects. Consider selling in the big online platforms as another great way to get rid of the useless objects in your flat.

- Disposal to a center for recycling is another great tip. It is a great tip if you prefer to go on the "green" side and show that you take care for the nature. Most of the objects can be recycled, but they will need more time to spend for sorting all the rubbish by type of the materials. Some companies with recycling or demolishing services offer their own vehicles for the disposal of waste, but some companies require disposal of waste via your own vehicle.

- Rethink your decision about getting rid of the useless objects, because if you like the weekend DIY projects, you may come with a brilliant idea for making the useless object useful again.

Why invest in renewable energy?

In the past few years, the use of solar panels has gone up considerably. The use of energy from the sun is enticing to all as it helps to cut down on energy bills.

This is one of the reasons why solar panels are spotted across the rooftops of homes. As consumers are realising that they require a better and improved solution to meet their energy requirements, solar panels are assuming relevance and bagging the energy spotlight successfully.

Want to know why you should consider investment in solar panels? Take a quick look at the below-mentioned points to understand why solar power is the only way forward.

• Solar panels will help to generate a considerable portion of your home’s power and eventually lower the dependency on the conventional power sources. For example, install solar panels to offer electricity just for appliances or lighting. It will lower your dependency on the utility company and curtail the electricity bill as well.

• Since your energy consumption will be low, your home is expected to be energy efficient.

• The decision to switching to alternative and renewable energy sources means the surplus energy generated by your solar panels can be shared with others who (urban poor) need of electricity.

• Net Metering policy can work in favour of home-owners using solar power. The electric meters will measure the electricity production, consumption level and calculate the difference.

• One of the other financial benefits from solar panels is that the resale value of your house will go up approximately by 30-35%.

• Use of solar panels can help bring down the heating bills considerably. The savings on heating costs versus the use of traditional electricity is capable of reaping significant financial rewards in the future.

• It is a good idea to connect the water heater used at home to the solar panel. During winter power outage, taking a hot shower won’t be a problem anymore.

• Currently, in the market, there are different DIY kits available which help to build solar panels at an affordable rate, which eventually boosts the profitability.

Industry insiders are of the belief that India as a nation enjoys a strong advantage when it comes to solar power. Many say that India is particularly suitable for solar power. While the central government is making concerted efforts to strengthen the country’s solar energy supply, it is believed that Indian solar industry may register a handsome growth of 250% in the coming days. In simple words, India has the potential to become one of the top five solar players internationally.

Delhi-based The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) recently stated that currently, 300-million people in India do not have access to electricity. Solar power can make the life of school children much easier as it allows them to do their homework after dark and allow consumers to stay connected via mobile phones.

People around the globe are deepening their solar relationship by bolstering its use in their day-to-day affairs. Consumers are consistently looking for alternative source of energy that the fossil fuels have left. Apart from being a game changer for global climate change, it is time for India treats solar power as a lucrative opportunity.

7 Innovative Brand Promotions Techniques By Using Social Media

Social media is now a day key platform to build your brand image more viral and successful. In order to achieve all this, you have to keep in mind some points discussed in this article

Social media has a very strong impact in today’s world. Brand promotion in this area is crucial for the investors and to make a strong social media impact is their need. Sometimes using a wrong social network can hinder the brand promotions as people do not take interest in it which blow off the opportunities and leave a very negative impression on the revenue potential of that particular brand.  To master social media presence is not a tough task, as it is just a game of basic rules which are to be followed. Here are some of the techniques which help in making a strong social media presence for the brand.

1. Keep updating about the brand

1. Leverage the Influencers on Social Media

1. Paid Reach over Organic Reach

1. Post about the updates daily but do not overdo it

1. Address the complaints immediately

1. Comprehend your Analytic

1. Focus on some suitable social networks rather than on all sites

People using social media are connecting to the promotional brand because they take interest in that product and they want updates about what is going on and what are the future prospects of the brand. Unless and until you are interested in the promotional product, no one would take the interest. So it is a good idea to keep them up to date about the brand and also add some innovative ideas like merge it with company cultural posts. Moreover, predictable advertisements are somewhat boring for the social media audience so keep your members interested by being memorable and deliver value.

Influencers on Social Media can play a very critical role in Brand promotion as they will have the contact information visible in their bios. All the brands do not use the influencers but most of them do target the influencers for their advantage. There is a very simple way for doing it. First of all, you have to identify the social media containing the required audience, then find the suitable influencers who have the potential to promote that brand and make a deal. It is not a rocket science to get started. Once you do, then there is a big business waiting for you.

If you want to enhance the Brand promotion on social media, be ready for paid reach. Facebook organic reach is nothing as it was in the beginning. In the same way, Instagram is also playing it with a new strategy.

Some of the platforms like Facebook and Instagram have a very large audience, combining their audience with the advertising targeting options of those platforms can enhance the sales and promotions to a larger extent.

Post daily about the updates of a brand as it will keep the audience interested and can enhance the sales, until and unless you over do it. Tools having automatic response are available there to manage the marketing over social media but do not let it ruin your marketing, particularly in conditions when the news feed on the social media are just filled with such posts, as this will lead the person to unfollow the brand.

There can be a positive and negative feedback about any brand. To address both of them is your duty. Customer service portal is available on social media which provides a platform for the customers to get involved in company brands. This is a quick response way for the consumers rather than to find the number, wait for the person to pick and resolve the issue.

So, this is your responsibility to give a quick response to the complaints posted on Facebook or tweets. If they post something, ask the consumer to contact the employee as soon as possible and solve the issue. Do not ignore their posts; otherwise, it will result in a complete downfall of your company.

To get a proof, you can visit the site of any brand and watch the complaints of the consumers. Go through some of the complaints and you will have an idea about how that company manages adversity.

Some of the brands believe that social media do not work for them; the actual reason for their downfall on social media is their less interest in social analytics of their brand. Popular resources like Facebook and twitter provide all the information about what is going on and what is working and what is not.

Just post about a particular brand is not enough instead you have to check the details daily such as the interest of the people in any content and reaction of the members to a particular post.

If u use lots of sites for brand promotion, then it will minimize your efforts as your attention would be divided into many social sites and you would dedicate less time to some suitable social networks. Instead, pick some of the social networks which are suitable for your brand and put your full effort there for your brand promotion. For instance, a dealer working with diamond would be more active on some social networks rather than on all.

How to Empower Your Team Using Employee Communication Tools

Empowerment is not just another trendy buzzword, it's a business strategy that can significantly improve your business processes and make your workforce that much more effective. There are many tools you can use to empower your employees but internal communication tools allow you, the manager to sit back, do your job and leave the micromanaging to the amateurs. Sound pretty good, right?! Let's understand just how we can do that.

SELF-SUFFICIENCY TO FOSTER EMPLOYEE EMPOWERMENT

Just as parents raise their children with the goal of moulding them into amazing self-sufficient human beings who function well in society, managers don't want their employees constantly tugging at their corporate apron strings.

As a manager, you can help them do this by:

• Identify strengths: If your employees are remote workers, it may be hard to get to know them in person and develop close working relationships. Luckily, technology is here to help us traverse the the geographical divide. Employee apps are a great tool for managers who want to connect with their desk-less team. You can get to know them by creating an on boarding survey within your employee app, asking them to identify their top strengths and experience.Leadership experts believe that giving employees roles that fit their individual strengths leads to efficiency and organizational success. Now doesn't that sound awesome?!

• Streamline processes and procedures: When an Organization is structured properly, employees know where to turn to for what they need. When a manager sets up policies, procedures, and processes to effectively manage a team, employees don’t need to constantly come to the manager since they already know what to do. If you are managing a few retail stores, for example, you can upload work procedures like check-lists to ensure on-the-job compliance. You can also set up an on boarding e-learning procedure so that every new employee trains to become self-sufficient in their role.

• Don’t micromanage: If you want your employees to be self-sufficient and independent, let them! When an employee joins your team, they may need more support and management; when they are fully trained and ready to fly, let them fly! Of course there are exceptions with problematic employees who need more support and guidance, but for the majority of workers, if you train them, make sure they have the knowledge, trust them, they will be self-sufficient if you allow them to be.

• Empowerment starts with trust: If you are constantly nagging your employees, never letting them explore and be creative, then they will never become "empowered". A manager must give the space for them to ask questions and feel a sense of pride and ownership over their roles. Having remote workers may give you a leg up in this, because 82% of remote workers report lowered stress levels, because they say they work in an environment they are comfortable with. Distance does introduce certain challenges, especially with regards to internal communications and workforce efficiency, but distance may not be a bad thing after all.

• Reward empowerment and good performance: Praise and accolades are nice but what better way to enhance productivity than with actual rewards? Rewards like bonuses, raises or promotions can be distributed and announced by using your own company app and reaching your team while away from their desks. Don’t know where to start? Start small with weekly “shout-out” messages on your for all employees to see. Positive, public recognition, even though seemingly small, is a motivation booster and keeps the good vibes going.

OWNERSHIP AND REWARD

Over $10 billion is lost annually due to high employee turnover rates. On the flip side, companies with employees that report feeling encouraged and involved in the company's goals and operations outperform those with with disengaged employees by 202%. Let’s dig into how managers can give space for empowerment, leading to a sense of ownership, pride and reward:

GREAT MANAGEMENT IS ABOUT GREAT COMMUNICATION

It’s a wonder how far a small tool can take you. No one ever thought mobile phones could work wonders and become miniature computers, as they are today. So employee communication tools, seemingly small, can do wonders for your team. A tool like this can foster employee empowerment by allowing workers to become self-sufficient, independent, with a sense of ow

7 Tips for Traveling with a Baby in Summer

However, if you have a baby and are planning to take him along, traveling can really be a stressful experience for you. But worry not, here are some solid tips that will make your trip as easy and fun as possible.

There is no doubt that summer is a great time to explore and experience a whole new world of travel, fun, and adventure with your family. However, if you have a baby and are planning to take him along, traveling can really be a stressful experience for you. But worry not, the tips given below will make your trip as easy and fun as possible.

Pack Light:

Instead of filling your carry-on bag with whatever you get in your hands, focus on packing clothes that are lightweight and breathable to both you and your baby. For the summer season, soft materials like cotton or hosiery with light colors are perfect to pack as they keep your baby cool and comfortable. Besides that, make sure to have enough diapers and wipes in your diaper bag.

Apply Sunscreen to Your Baby:

Apply sunscreen liberally to the exposed areas of your baby’s body 15 to 30 minutes before you hit the road. This will not only protect his soft skin from the accidental sun exposure but also will minimize the risk of developing sunburn or sweat rash. However, if your baby is younger than six months, use sunscreen sparingly.

Carry Enough Water Bottles:

Carry plenty of water to avoid dehydration or sunstroke during the trip. On hot summer days, babies breastfeed a little more than usual which may interrupt your overall milk supply. This means you have to stay well-hydrated to produce all that extra milk for your little one, which is possible only when you drink plenty of water.

Keep Breastfeeding:

If your little one relies solely on breast milk, make sure to feed him frequently so he doesn't become dehydrated. This is vital because breast milk is the only way to compensate the loss of fluids that comes out of your breastfed baby’s body in the form of sweating. In case you are concerned about nursing in public, be sure to use a nursing cover to maintain your privacy and comfort.

Keep the Pumped Milk Cool:

Of course, you can pump your breast milk at home and have an extra bottle ready to feed your baby in case of an emergency when you’re not able to breastfeed. While breast milk can be kept at room temperature for up to 10 hours, it may get really hot when you’re traveling. To keep your pumped breast milk cool, you can take advantage of a baby feeding bottle cover that is made of an insulated material.

Help Your Baby Stay Cool:

As much as possible, keep your little one out of direct sun exposure, especially during the peak heat hours. Since your baby has a very delicate skin, exposure to direct sunlight for a long time can lead to heat rashes and sunburn. If you’re unable to avoid the sun, make sure to protect his head with a baby cap. Also to save your infant from overheating, dress him in lightweight clothes made up of materials such as cotton.

Never Leave Your Baby Alone in the Car:

Last but not least, never leave your child alone in the car, even for a few minutes. During a hot summer day, the temperature inside a closed car can rise up to 45 degrees Celsius. That means if you leave your little one in such a hot environment, he may suffer from severe heat exhaustion (or even suffocation) and require immediate medical care. So next time when you go on a summer trip, don’t forget to take your baby out of the car.

How to chose the right domain name for your website?

Choosing the right domain name is very important. Choosing the right domain name will help you achieve success with your website, choosing the right domain name will save you money and help you to be found on search engines for your target customers. Choosing the right domain name is the first important step before designing your site.

The following tips are very important and should be taken seriously. A company should have minimum 2 domain names, so 2 websites. A domain name with the name of your company and a domain name for each of your services or products.

The domain name including your company name must be used on all your corporate documents (business card, letterhead, promotional products and others). On this website you have to register all corporate information, your profile, your mission, your team, your contact information and a summary of your services and / or products. And on the page you talk about your services you put a link on the official website of your services and the same thing for your products. So a domain name that includes your service and a domain name including your product.

This seems to make a lot of domain name but it is essential. Internet works with keywords so it is important to use a domain name for each of your keywords.

Take for example your company that called ABC Kids Inc. and you sell children's clothing. So you need a domain name "abcchildren.com". The domain name is for your corporate paperwork. People who know you will head directly abcchildren.com and find what they need. But most people do not know you and do not know your domain name, so people looking for a children's clothing store site will research their favorite search engine with the keyword "clothing for children" . You have a lot more likely to be found if you have a domain name clothesforchildren.com kind and it will be easier for people to remember the domain that the domain name with the name of your company. Try to choose a short domain name easy to remember.

If your budget does not allow to have 2 websites so 2 domain names, I advise you to choose a domain name with the name of your product or service. If you sell sunglasses you need to find a domain name that resembles sunglasses.com. If you make the window repair in the Montreal area you must have a domain name such repair-window-montreal.com. You must include the keyword that people will use to find your product or service on the search engines in your domain name.

So choosing the right domain name, you must first write a list of keywords that you think people will use to find you. For example, to find a massage service, people can search with "massage clinic", "massage therapist", "massage therapy" ect. There are several. So register on your list any keywords that you believe that you can use to find you to find a domain name that includes these keywords.
